International Ski Patroller Day

Say thank you to your local ski patroller.

We are first on and last off, ensuring the safety of the public who ski or snowboard at our local hills.

We are a family of outdoor enthusiasts that love what we do.

We are paid or we are volunteers.

We spend on average over 200 hours a year maintaining our training, patrolling, instructing, and of course having fun.

My patrolling started in 2002. I have so many amazing memories of wild nights running sleds with my teammates. Opening the mountain on a blue bird day and ripping down the fresh corduroy. Giggling while playing in the moguls trying not to crash under the lift. Instructing new candidates on their first aid and toboggan skills, watching them progress to full patrollers.

The best part, seeing the smile of those that we help when they are in need.

I went through my folder brimming with images, over 10k from the last 24 years. I chose a couple to show what we do.

We play.

We train.

We work in any weather condition.

We are ski patrollers.
